    The Angel Archives

Narratives of energy, impact, and the people rewriting the rules of the talent ecosystem.

“AI has largely solved the skills-matching problem. The energy-fit problem has not been tackled by anyone yet. Because for that, you need to measure in both directions, and have a human being to monitor it.”

    01 — Market context

The labor market is changing structurally

Belgium and Europe count more freelancers today than ever recorded, and that number keeps growing, even in uncertain times. Freelancers consciously choose work that aligns with their talents and energy, not a company car or an electric scooter.

That is exactly the intersection where We Are Angels built its model.

    02 — The company

    Team-as-a-Service across twelve specializations

We Are Angels is a Belgian Team-as-a-Service company that strengthens organizations with freelance specialists, the Angels, active across twelve specializations.

Companies invest massively in recruitment to attract the right people, but retaining them is the challenge of this decade. Talent does not leave because of compensation. Talent leaves because the energy is gone, because the work no longer fits who they are.

    Bidirectional matching

    03 — The model

Energy as a matching criterion, measured in both directions

Angels go through seven assessments that result in a personal handbook. That document captures strengths, communication style, and stress patterns. It is shared with colleagues and clients, so collaboration starts from understanding rather than assumptions.

CEO Vincent Van Leemputten actively shares his own handbook: not out of shame, but as proof that transparency creates ownership. Companies go through four assessments that objectify culture, team flow, and expectations. This also results in a handbook, so new team members immediately know how communication works and what is expected.

    04 — AngelMatch

    Open platform with human oversight

That bidirectional approach is at the core of AngelMatch: an open platform where companies and freelancers manage their own energy fit, powered by an AI-matching engine. Where major players like Malt or Upwork match on availability and rate, AngelMatch combines energy and skills fit in both directions.

For organizations that want to be fully taken care of, there is We Are Angels as a managed service. Guardian Angels monitor the match, refine it through conversations, and guarantee the fit. Angels may refuse work if the energy fit is missing. We Are Angels thinks long-term, not from a scarcity mindset.

The model invoices per quarter-hour and allows teams to collaborate without the burden of permanent hiring. In 2023, We Are Angels won the UNIZO award for Most Promising SME for this energy-fit model.

    05 — The future

    Specialization becomes the norm

The future of work is specialization. Generalists are becoming scarce in operational roles. We Are Angels is building the infrastructure for that new reality.

    Skills get you in.
    Energy keeps you there.
